Winery Raj

Building on the specific wine culture characteristic of the Negotinska Krajina region, the Winery RAJ focuses on the varieties that traditionally grow in this region, primarily Black Tamjanika, White Tamjanika, and Gamay.

Wine has always told romantic stories, like the one of Mick and Beka O'Connor, founders of RAJ Winery. They met by chance in the 1980s and traveled together, sharing adventures and the joy of constant movement for an entire year, after which they each went their separate ways.

However, it was probably inevitable that their paths would cross again, and even 19 years later, in 2005, they really met again, spontaneously as it happened the first time. Their journey together was not interrupted this time, and in December 2007, Mick and Beka got married and started a winery. In 2020, Beka's daughter Smiljana Arnautović, who returns to the village from Hamburg after her studies, joins them. At the same time, another world traveler Kristina Lukić moved to the village, who as a professional oenologist has been advising, supporting, and helping the winery for two years. Kristina and Smiljana create wines in harmony with nature and with each vintage they are different. Production in the vineyard is organic, and interventions during fermentation are kept to a minimum.

Their recognizable labels are RAJ- Zenit (Semillon), Ronze (Gamay), Sova (Sauvignon Blanc), Raj Gamay, Crna Black Tamjanika, Plot (Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot), Bela Tamjanika.
